BCDA v3: Expanded access, general availability

Oct 7th, 2026

Over 600 new organizations eligible for BCDA in time for v3 general availability

Summer 2026 increased the reach of FHIR-enabled Medicare claims data thanks to new Innovation Models and the general availability release of BCDA v3.

3 new payment models can access BCDA

As of July 2026, participants in the ACCESS, GUIDE, and IOTA models have access to Medicare claims data. Timely claims data will help model participants treat and manage complex conditions. These include chronic conditions, dementia, and needs arising around kidney transplants.

General availability means faster access to v3

With the phased rollout complete (from early adopter program, to limited release, to general availability), eligible organizations can now initiate their own access to BCDA v3. As announced in the BCDA Google Group, you no longer need to submit a request to onboard or migrate in order to get started.

Why move to v3?

With v3, platform-level improvements lead to earlier access to claims data. Earlier access supports timely follow-ups and interventions. A closer alignment between v3 and other CMS data sources supports a more detailed, longitudinal picture of health for people with Medicare.
